UK culture minister: ‘We will cap resale prices’

MP Ian Murray has warned ticket touts "the days of industrial profiteering will end" as the government moves forward with its plans

New UK culture minister Ian Murray has confirmed the Labour government is pressing ahead with plans for a price cap on resale tickets.

A long-anticipated consultation into the secondary ticketing market was initiated back in January and closed in the spring, with the government vowing to “tackle greedy touts and give power back to fans”.

It indicated it was looking to cap resale at 10% above face value, but sought views on levels ranging from no uplift at all to 30%.
