South African promoters downplay xenophobia row as gig cancellations continue

Live sector figures say pan-African booking continues after high profile acts have scrapped shows in protest of alleged anti-immigration violence

Following a recent surge in concert concert cancellations both in South Africa and for South African artists abroad, promoters in the country have downplayed the effects of an ongoing xenophobia row on their pan-African show bookings.

One figure in the national market says that recent concert cancellations by international acts have “not impacted” their ability to work with international touring acts.
