Live Nation-backed Munich Arena project takes big step forward

German authorities have greenlit plans for a new 20,000-capacity arena in Munich as it remains on track for a 2029 opening.

The project, backed by Live Nation, is slated to be the country’s “most sustainable concert arena” while delivering “cutting-edge architecture, excellent acoustics, and optimal sightlines,” according to the venue’s team.

Munich’s city council has approved updated plans for a 20% smaller venue footprint, which will still support 20,000 attendees, with refined sightlines and acoustic design.
