London technology company Vollou is to trial AI-based technology for tracking DJ setlists across three UK festivals this summer in a bid to aid reporting of live performances for royalty distribution.

The firm will use a real-time music recognition technology (MRT), comparable to consumer tools such as Shazam, which it said is “designed to operate at festival scale” and “tailored for electronic music environments”. When asked by IQ, Vollou did not say which three festivals will be trialling the technology.
