‘Different languages’: SE Asia stadium touring hampered by public-private ‘misalignment’

South-East Asian cities are losing out on international stadium tours as promoters fail to frame concerts “in public value terms” for governments, according to a leading events executive in the region.

So says Jin Teik Oon, managing director of the disrupTEIK Consultancy and former CEO of The Kallang complex which houses Singapore’s National Stadium, who tells IQ that “different languages” spoken by governments and promoters have resulted in a regional booking landscape where “tours can swing away from a market overnight”.
