California ticket resale cap bill falters in State Senate
The news means one of the US' premier live entertainment states will lack the resale regulations passed recently in smaller jurisdictions

A bill that proposed to introduce a ticket resale cap in California has failed to pass, with live industry figures calling it a “disappointing outcome”.
The bill (AB 1720) stalled in the State Senate yesterday (13 August), meaning its aims to limit resale price to 110% of face value, as well as limiting transaction fees charged by platforms, will not take effect. The proposed regulations would have applied only to tickets for events in venues below 3,000 capacity.
