Global Citizen crowns $1bn fundraiser with Brazil fest debut

The Live Nation and Rock World-produced Global Citizen Festival: Amazônia is also reportedly the region's most sustainable festival

Global Citizen has broken new ground in South America with Global Citizen Festival: Amazônia, its continental debut in celebration of a year-long fundraising campaign that secured $1 billion (€868m).

The international advocacy organisation’s first festival in Latin America brought together 50,000 attendees at Estádio Olímpico do Pará in Belém, Brazil, on Saturday (1 Nov), headlined by Anitta, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Charlie Puth, Gaby Amarantos, and Seu Jorge.
