‘Extraordinary’ crowds line Montreal streets for Angine de Poitrine festival show

Montreal Jazz Festival organisers say the free event had to cut off admissions 30 minutes before the show as crowd size passed expectations

Montreal Jazz Festival drew one of the biggest crowds in its history to the streets of Montreal for a performance by rising duo Angine de Poitrine this past weekend (27 June), with organisers suggesting up to 200,000 fans attended.

Organisers said the performance by the Québécois duo drew the biggest crowd the festival had seen since Stevie Wonder’s appearance at the event in 2009, only a year after playing to 2,000 people at last year’s edition.
