‘Not worth the risk’: UK independent festivals facing dip in ticketer confidence

Recent festival cancellations have left independent ticket firms wary of increasingly early drawdowns and refund liabilities

Independent ticketing companies are becoming “increasingly cautious” about working with festivals that rely heavily on advance ticket revenue, UK sources tell IQ, amid growing concern that ticketing platforms are being left to shoulder more financial risk.

Sources in the ticketing sector say that though there is a desire to work with independent festivals, increasingly, in the words of one ticketer, “the reward is not worth the risk”.
