As more individuals go it alone at festivals, Denmark’s Smukfest is expanding its community options for solo festival-goers. Of the 60,000 people expected to attend the long-standing forest festival in Skanderborg this week (2-9 August), roughly 4.5% of them (2,700) will attend on their own.

New research from one of Scandinavia’s largest music festivals finds that audiences are increasingly making the choice to attend solo, with nearly 90% of surveyed solo attendees saying they value the freedom of shaping their own experience.
