Germany’s first cross-genre report examining the diversity and challenges of the country’s music festivals has been published.
The recent nationwide study, which was based on an online survey of 1,764 music festivals in Germany, was a joint project of Initiative Musik, the Federal Foundation LiveKultur and the German Music Information Center.
Its key findings include that around 1,800 music festivals take place regularly in Germany, with 60% of events taking place in cities and towns with fewer than 100,000…
