$7bn development around Chicago’s United Center launches

Ground has been broken on Chicago’s 1901 Project, a $7 billion (€6bn) undertaking to redevelop the areas surrounding the 23,500-capacity United Center, creating a mammoth mixed-use entertainment destination.

Initially introduced in 2024, the project will include a 6,000-capacity theatre, nearly 10,000 apartments, hotels, extensive retail and office spaces, parking garages, and public gathering spots on a 55-acre plot around the arena.
