About the Role

The Glasgow Clan is seeking a highly motivated, organised, and hands-on Equipment Manager to oversee all aspects of the team’s equipment operations. This is a key role within the Hockey Operations department, ensuring players and coaching staff have everything they need to perform at the highest level. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the team’s equipment room, maintaining all player equipment, coordinating apparel and equipment orders, and supporting the team during practices, home and away games, and team travel. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced professional sports environment, has exceptional attention to detail, and takes pride in delivering elite standards every day.

 

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Operations

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Glasgow Clan equipment room.
  • Order all team equipment and apparel through approved suppliers and partners.
  • Manage the equipment and apparel budget, including purchasing processes and credit card reconciliation.
  • Work closely with the Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach.
  • Maintain equipment room machinery and coordinate servicing and repairs.
  • Develop and maintain accurate inventory systems.
  • Prepare for all practices, home games, away games and team travel.
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteer equipment assistants.
  • Understand player equipment preferences and requirements.
  • Carry out sewing, repairs and general equipment maintenance.
  • Sharpen and maintain players’ skates.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure all equipment complies with league regulations.
  • Clean, sanitise and maintain all equipment and apparel.
  • Coordinate daily and game-day laundry.
  • Ensure all players receive properly fitted equipment.
  • Stay current with equipment safety best practices.

Administration & Compliance

  • Support Hockey Operations administration.
  • Liaise with suppliers, league officials and internal departments.
  • Ensure compliance with Elite League and club policies.
  • Participate in required training.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience as an Equipment Manager or Assistant Equipment Manager.
  • Excellent knowledge of ice hockey equipment.
  • Professional skate sharpening and repair experience.
  • Strong organisation and inventory management skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork.
  • Flexibility for evenings, weekends and travel.
  • Physically capable of handling equipment.
  • Full UK driving licence.
