How Amsterdam Dance Event evolved from a gathering of “outsiders” to the world’s biggest electronic music gathering with a 30-year legacy

There aren’t many events that attract 600,000 people and take over a whole city’s music infrastructure. But as it marks its 30th anniversary, Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) can proudly say that it does.

The event has grown from a daytime conference in one hotel into the focal point for the global electronic music industry. It now takes in over 300 venues, drawing people from 140 countries to 1,200 events by 3,500 artists.
