Costs and inflation are piling pressure on the Netherlands’ live music business, with scores of festivals closing shop in recent times. However, with new events springing up and local talent gaining waves of new fans, the country’s industry professionals remain upbeat.

According to the Dutch consumer price index, goods and services in the Netherlands were 2.9% more expensive in July than they were a year earlier, with prices for rent, energy, and food and drink all rising ahead of the Eurozone average. In an inflationary world, it’s nothing disastrous, and of course, the Netherlands remains one of Europe’s wealthier economies.
