Making Montreux Mondiale

From a UNESCO-protected archive of 7,000 performances, Montreux Jazz Festival transforms six decades of footage into a thriving worldwide brand

Thanks to the vision of Claude Nobs, Montreux Jazz Festival’s 60-year catalogue of performance recordings was inscribed on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register in 2013 to ensure its long-term preservation and global accessibility.

The collection has fuelled the event’s pursuit of global recognition, dating as far back as the 1990s when Eagle Rock Entertainment agreed a deal to produce concert DVDs from Montreux Jazz content.
