Rod Wave countersues promoter over $27m, announces tour

The rapper/singer alleges Grizzly Touring's lawsuit is an attempt at forcing him into "indentured servitude"

American rapper and singer Rod Wave is countersuing his tour promoter, with his lawyer claiming the company is attempting to force him into “indentured servitude”.

Last month, Grizzly Touring sued Wave over $27 million in allegedly unrecouped tour advances after the promoter gave the singer and his company, Hit House Entertainment, $57m for a 35-date arena tour that went unfinished.

Now, Wave is countersuing, attributing the unfinished dates to scheduling and production issues that made it “logistically impossible” to complete the Last Lap Tour.

“Grizzly is not entitled to this improperly requested specific performance or equivalent injunctive relief, which effectively amounts to an indentured servitude,” writes Rod’s lawyer James Sammataro. “Defendants have lost confidence in Grizzly as their tour promoter and no longer wish to perform…
