Politics, boycotts and budgets dominate EFC 2025 agenda
Delegates from more than 20 countries tackled the big topics at this week's European Festival Conference in Portugal

The European Festival Conference (EFC) marked its sixth edition with a sold-out gathering of over 80 delegates from more than 20 countries, as organisers used the moment to issue stark warnings about the pressures in the sector.
Opening the event, YOUROPE Chairman, Christof Huber, reflected on a festival landscape marked by cancellations, postponements, and the ongoing war in Ukraine. Huber confirmed continued support for Music Saves Ukraine, and played a video message from the organisation’s Vlad Yaremchuk who was unable to leave the country to attend the EFC.
Taking place in Evora, Portugal from 18-20 November, the conference also paid tribute to Roskilde’s long-time board chair Steen Jorgensen, who passed away this month.
