Rock in Rio to debut immersive experience at festival

Rock in Rio is tapping into immersive entertainment by unveiling a 360º sensory experience at the forthcoming edition.

The Brazilian institution is partnering with the LightWire performance group to produce an immersive spectacle, dubbed ECCO, to offer audiences an experience combining light, sound, technology, aromas, and nature.

A cohort of over 15 dancers will execute five 20-minute performances daily within a 1,000-capacity space at the festival. The project will combine the performers, precise choreography, an original soundtrack, mapped projections, holography, and LED and fibre optic-infused costumes.

The space will also offer a three-dimensional sound experience, enhanced by scenography that combines light, laser, wind, aromas, and dry ice, all of which lend to the creation of a 360º spectacle.
