Sony & Universal join forces to produce Asian music festivals
In addition to large-scale events, the record labels' new joint venture will seek to bolster Japanese artists' international activity

Sony Music Entertainment (SME) and Universal Music LLC (UM) are dipping into Asia’s burgeoning festival sector with a new joint venture. The two Japanese offshoots of the record empires have come together to form Nine By Nine (NBN), with the aim of planning and producing music festivals across the continent.
Furthermore, the Tokyo-headquartered JV is seeking to bolster Japanese artists’ international activity.
