New Australian pension laws blamed for festival cancellations
Event organisers and the country's live music business council have hit out at new timeline requirements on artist pension contributions

New payday laws in Australia have led to the cancellation of multiple events, as the country’s live sector says they have placed extra financial burdens on those paying artist fees.
Laws in place since the beginning of July, known as the Superannuation Guarantee, require those paying artists for performances to make pension contributions within seven days of the artist receiving their fee.
