UK government was ‘up and down’ on touting measures, MP says
Labour's Alex Sobel also claims extent of fees claimed by resellers was key source of indecision before the bill was announced as draft legislation last month

The government was “up and down” on whether to include anti-ticket tout measures in full or in draft bill form in its programme for government last month, an MP has said, while also suggesting reseller fees will now be a key hurdle to clear as the bill faces further consultation.
Speaking today at a South by South West (SXSW) event hosted by the Fan Fair Alliance, Labour’s Alex Sobel MP spoke alongside Music Managers Forum (MMF) chief executive Annabella Coldrick and Kilimanjaro Live CEO Stuart Galbraith, about last month’s controversial draft bill announcement for long-awaited measures to tackle ticket touting.
The announcement disappointed many in the industry, who expected a commitment to a full bill, based on previous statements by the government.
