Australian industry body calls for live production tax incentive

Live Performance Australia has urged rebates worth 40% of eligible production expenses in the live sector

Australian industry body Live Performance Australia (LPA) has called for the federal government to introduce a ‘live performance production incentive’ as part of the next National Cultural Policy, which it said would have “transformational potential” to support the country’s live sector.

Live Performance Australia’s submission proposes a 40% offset on eligible production expenditure, aligned with existing Australian incentives for film, television, and digital games. This would allow companies in the live sector to receive back the value of 40% of their eligible production expenses in tax rebates.
