Storms force Primavera Sound opening night headliner cancellations

Organisers say conditions made it unsafe to proceed with the shows as fans voice frustration around communication

Primavera Sound was forced to cancel opening night headline performances by Massive Attack, Bad Gyal, and Doja Cat after poor weather conditions hit the site.

Around 9pm, the ferstival on Barcelona’s seafront saw heavy rain and winds reaching up to 80km/h, after local weather authorities had issued a yellow weather warning across Catalonia.

Particular confusion arose around Massive Attack’s set, which was initially cancelled and rescheduled for later in the night, but ultimately cancelled again. In the aftermath of the second cancellation, some fans reported having travelled back and forth to the venue multiple times as the status of the show changed.

Festival organisers said they worked alongside the teams of Massive Attack, Doja Cat, and Bad Gyal to reschedule their sets…
