After celebrating its 20th anniversary in May, organisers of The Great Escape look back at what they’ve achieved so far...and forward to the future.

The Great Escape (TGE) doesn’t do anniversaries. But 20 years in, the UK’s new-music institution made an exception. “We never talk about history. What we talk about is the future,” says Rory Bett, CEO of promoter MAMA Festivals.

“But I think it’s really important to take a minute and reflect on what we’ve been through and where we can go. They’re all good signposts to a healthy future.”

It’s an appropriate attitude for a showcase built…
