Cardiff arena scheme granted final go-ahead

Slated to open in 2028, the 16,500-cap project is set to cement the Welsh capital as a "premier" touring destination

Plans for Cardiff’s long-awaited indoor arena have taken a key step forward as Cardiff Council and the Live Nation and Robertson Property consortium announced financial close on the project.

The 16,500-capacity arena, which is slated to open in 2028, will create more than 1,000 jobs and is expected to attract more than one million visitors to the area annually, providing a significant economic boost.

It will also support the Welsh capital’s cultural and creative sector, helping cement Cardiff’s reputation as a “premier destination” on the international touring map. McLaren Construction has been confirmed as contractor for the venue.
