Goa plans 20,000-seat ‘mega performance arena’

The Indian coastal state has hailed the proposed scheme, which bids to attract international concerts, as a "game-changing" project

Goa is in line for a new state-of-the-art arena to host international artists as part of the Indian coastal state’s tourism roadmap. The “game-changing” plans were presented by Goa tourism minister Rohan Khaunte at this week’s State Tourism Ministers’ Conference in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

Under the scheme, the 20,000-seat, multipurpose “mega performance arena” at Mandrem in North Goa will be designed to stage concerts by global touring acts as well as conventions and other cultural and entertainment events.
