New Colosseum director reveals concert hopes
Simone Quilici says international acts such as Sting, Peter Gabriel and Paul McCartney could perform at the ancient Italian amphitheatre

The new director of the Colosseum in Rome has floated the possibility of hosting concerts by international stars at the Italian venue.
Simone Quilici, who succeeds Alfonsina Russo at the helm of the near 2,000-year-old amphitheatre next week, said that while performances would need to avoid “rowdy crowds” and “excessive vibration” that could damage the ancient monument, he would welcome older acts who “rock with moderation”.
