Serbian live sector ‘under threat’ amid ongoing protests
Artists supportive of protests allege being "blacklisted" as festivals fear losing public funding, while events at the heart of boycotts face uncertain futures

Live music industry figures in Serbia have said the country’s sector is “under threat” as they claim artists known to support ongoing student protests are increasingly “blacklisted” from festivals and venues receiving government funding.
It comes as the latest chapter of the saga around protests that have been ongoing since the November 2024 collapse of a railway station canopy in the city of Novi Sad, which killed 16 people. The protests have since spread nationwide.
