About KOKO
Celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, London’s iconic KOKO reopened in Spring 2022 following a three-year restoration and redevelopment. A favourite of Prince, Kanye West, Amy Winehouse and Madonna, it relaunched as a state-of-the-art live music venue, with members club The House of KOKO situated backstage and Café KOKO next door.
In the four years since reopening, KOKO has experienced rapid growth across multiple divisions and revenue streams, establishing itself as one of the UK’s most dynamic music and cultural companies.
The House of KOKO spans four floors and sixteen unique spaces, including a roof terrace and restaurant, dome cocktail bar, recording studio, piano room, library, hidden speakeasy and secret vinyl rooms.
Described by Vogue as ‘A totally unique experience’, the BBC as ‘changing the face of music’ and FT HTSI as an ‘arts space for the future’, this is an opportunity to join one of the UK’s most distinctive music and cultural companies.
The Role
As KOKO enters its next phase of growth, the social media team are tasked with expanding audience reach and developing brand IP.
KOKO is looking for a highly organised and proactive Social Media Coordinator to manage the day-to-day delivery of social media across the KOKO ecosystem, including KOKO, The House of KOKO and Cafe KOKO.
Working within KOKO’s Marketing team, this is a hands-on role focused on the effective day-to-day management of KOKO’s social channels, including publishing, community management, content management and social media administration.
While some content briefing and copywriting will be required, this is primarily a social media management and operations role, rather than a content creation or strategy role. The successful candidate should be as comfortable managing platforms, processes and administration as they are writing copy.
The role requires some evening and weekend availability to support social publishing and community management.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day running of KOKO’s social channels across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube.
- Own the scheduling and publishing process, ensuring copy, tags, links, assets and collaborator details are accurate and delivered on time.
- Manage community engagement, including monitoring and responding to comments and DMs.
- Maintain social profiles, bios, links, highlights and pinned content.
- Monitor channels and flag relevant opportunities, issues and audience feedback.
- Troubleshoot platform issues and escalate where required.
- Coordinate social media requirements across campaigns, partnerships and activations.
Copywriting
- Write and adapt social copy across platforms, maintaining KOKO’s tone of voice.
- Develop captions, CTAs and platform-specific messaging.
- Proofread and quality-check content before publication.
Social Administration
- Manage and organise social content, ensuring assets are received, correctly saved, accessible and ready for publishing.
- Maintain content calendars, publishing schedules, social trackers and asset libraries.
- Coordinate approvals, feedback and social requirements across internal teams, agencies and external partners.
- Support content briefs where required, working from agreed creative direction and campaign objectives.
- Support social-led CRM acquisition, ensuring sign-up campaigns, links and messaging are correctly implemented and promoted across relevant channels.
- Extract and collate social media performance data from platform analytics, social media reporting tools, Google Search Console and link-in-bio platforms, providing accurate data to support regular reporting and analysis.
- Stay up to date with platform functionality, updates and best practice.
Platforms & Tools
Experience working with social media management and publishing platforms, including Sprout Social / Sprinklr, is desired. Experience with social listening tools is a bonus.
About You
- 2–3 years’ experience in social media, either agency or in-house.
- Strong working knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn.
- Highly organised, reliable and detail-oriented, with strong experience managing platforms, publishing workflows and multiple priorities.
- Strong copywriting and proofreading skills.
- Confident working with internal teams, agencies and external partners.
- Proactive and solutions-focused, with the ability to troubleshoot independently.
- Good understanding of social media platforms, functionality and best practice.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Genuinely interested in music, culture and entertainment, with a strong understanding of the wider social landscape.
The Working Relationship
The role is responsible for the day-to-day social media processes within its remit, working independently while applying the wider social strategy. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the marketing, content and creative teams to ensure social activity is delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
