Who we are
KOKO is one of London’s leading independent music venues, Live Awards ‘Venue of the Year’ winner, hosting over 150 live shows a year across external promoter hires, in-house programming, and owned IP – alongside a busy private events and corporate hire business. KOKO works with the best promoters, agents and artists globally.

Celebrating its 125th year anniversary this year, London’s iconic KOKO reopened in Spring 2022 after a three year restoration and redevelopment – a favourite of Prince, Kanye West, Amy Winehouse and Madonna, it relaunched as a state-of-the-art live music venue spanning 50,000 square feet, with a new members club The House of KOKO situated backstage and the new Cafe KOKO next door.

In the first four years since reopening, KOKO has experienced rapid growth with multiple divisions and revenue streams, resulting in a huge success story as one of the most dynamic, innovative music companies in the UK.

The House of KOKO sprawls over four floors and sixteen beautifully designed spaces. The House of KOKO’s membership community enjoys access to a beautiful roof terrace and restaurant, dome cocktail bar, penthouse and recording studio, piano room, library, a hidden speakeasy, stage kitchen, cocktail bar and secret vinyl rooms.

Described by Vogue as ‘A totally unique experience’, the BBC as ‘changing the face of music’’ and FT HTSI as an ‘arts space for the future’, this is a brilliant opportunity to join one of the most exciting companies in the globe right now.

The role
We are seeking an experienced, culturally aware, positive individual, who thrives in a fast-paced environment, to join the marketing team at KOKO. The successful candidate will have excellent copywriting skills, with exceptional organisational skills, who can manage multiple projects at once with ease.

The Venue Marketing Manager will be responsible for crafting marketing plans, communication and content plans to drive ticket sales, brand growth & visibility and reputation, working closely with key stakeholders (Membership, Music, Private Events, Brand Partnerships, Design).

The role requires someone who is experienced in selling tickets. Someone who is both creative and analytical, a strong copywriter, ideally with experience in brand storytelling, as well as managing complex databases. This is a role for someone who genuinely loves live music, understands how promoters and venues work together, and is just as comfortable building a paid social campaign as they are pulling together a B2B sales deck for a corporate client.

Key responsibilities
You’ll own marketing across three distinct but connected areas of the business:

1. Promoter & external show marketing

  • Act as the day-to-day marketing point of contact for external promoters, agents and tour managers bringing shows into the venue.
  • Build and execute marketing plans for each show to sell tickets, using the venue’s own channels – email (CRM/database), social, website, listings, on-site and out-of-home – working within the scope agreed in promoter contracts.
  • Manage a high-volume campaign calendar, prioritising and sequencing marketing support across a busy, fast-moving schedule (approx 3+ shows a week).
  • Set clear expectations with promoters on what the venue will and won’t deliver, and hold the line on brand and channel standards while remaining a genuinely helpful, responsive partner.
  • Track and report on ticket sales, channel performance and campaign effectiveness per show, feeding learnings back into future promoter conversations.

2. In-house shows & owned IP

  • Lead marketing end-to-end for the venue’s in-house programmed shows and owned IP events (festivals, weekenders, series) – from campaign strategy and creative briefing through to on-sale, on-the-day activation and post-event reporting.
  • Define positioning, messaging and audience strategy for each show or brand, working closely with programming/booking.
  • Brief and manage designers, content creators and any external agencies (paid media, PR, influencer) as needed.
  • Own the marketing budget for these shows, allocating spend across paid social, email, partnerships and other channels to hit sales targets.
  • Build and grow owned-IP brands year on year – treating each as a standalone product with its own audience, tone and growth plan.
  • Use CRM/database and social data to build audiences, re-target lapsed attendees and grow direct booking share.

3. B2B marketing for private events & hire

  • Own the marketing strategy in collaboration with the private events team, for the venue’s private events, corporate hire and brand partnerships function.
  • Develop and maintain B2B collateral – sales decks, venue hire brochures, case studies, website and listings content – in partnership with the sales/private events team.
  • Plan and oversee any lead-generation activity: targeted outreach, email marketing, LinkedIn/paid campaigns, trade press and directory listings, awards submissions.
  • Track enquiry and conversion data with the sales team to continually refine positioning and targeting.

What you’ll bring:

  • 5–8+ years’ marketing experience gained in live music venues and/or events – ideally with direct experience of promoter/venue relationships.
  • A genuine, credible interest in live music and London’s venue/promoter landscape.
  • Proven ability to plan and deliver successful, high-volume, fast-turnaround campaigns without dropping quality or missing deadlines.
  • End-to-end campaign experience: strategy, creative briefing, paid and organic social, email/CRM, budget management and reporting.
  • Confidence working across both B2C (ticket-buying audiences) and B2B (corporate/private hire clients) marketing.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills – equally comfortable pushing back on a promoter, briefing a designer, or presenting internally.
  • Hands-on with the tools: Email/CRM platforms, basic design/content tools, ticketing platforms, etc.
  • Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills – this role covers a lot of ground and needs someone who can juggle without dropping the ball.
  • Comfortable working some evenings and weekends around show nights and events.
