UK live sector figures have criticised the country’s government in the wake of revelations that a “significant chunk” of money raised through the country’s voluntary £1 ticket contribution is to be diverted away from the industry in tax.

Of the roughly £6m raised so far through the country’s live music ticket contribution scheme, £1.2m (20%) will be taken in Value Added Tax (VAT) by the government.
