Non-profit cultural association Paléo Arts & Spectacles was formed in 1974 to bring popular folk music to the local youth.
Inspired by events like Woodstock, founder Daniel Rossellat, who is still the organisation’s president, initially organised a three-day indoor event but moved the festival outdoors in its second year to the shores of Lake Geneva, allowing the event to grow in scope, both in audience and in musical style, beyond just folk.
