Nigeria’s arena narrative remains defined more by ongoing venue development than a fully established arena system.

The much-publicised 12,000-capacity Lagos Arena, announced over two years ago, missed its December 2025 delivery window, leaving a continued gap in purpose-built, mid-to-large indoor venues. In the interim, Ilubirin, a waterfront development in Lagos, emerged as a new major venue in December 2025.
