Arena Market: Senegal

In Senegal, the idea of an ‘arena market’ barely exists as a circuit of purpose-built venues. Instead, it operates as a flexible network of spaces that expand, shrink, or adapt to the demands of each event.

At the centre of Senegal’s venue system is Dakar Arena (15,000 cap), the country’s closest equivalent to a modern arena. Its ability to extend beyond fixed seating through floor and standing setups allows it to accommodate crowds comparable to a standard arena show.

The venue has become a go-to spot for major music events, such as Youssou Ndour’s annual Grand Ball, which drew about 20,000 attendees to the January 2026 edition.
