Arenas, along with clubs and stadiums and, in fact, venues of all kinds, are something of a sore point in Switzerland, where in spite of a remarkably prosperous market and heavy demand for live shows, places to stage them are in short supply
The country hovers among the Top 10 richest in the world by GDP per capita, but its arenas are relatively few, and no replacements or reinforcements are currently on the cards in either the capital Zurich or second city Geneva.
The city of Zurich’s pre-eminent arena is the Hallenstadion, which is bursting at the seams, with too many shows to list, from Rosalía and Mumford & Sons to Chappell Roan and Hans Zimmer in the past year.
