Brazil remains one of South America’s live music giants, even as 2024 brought a market cooldown. Digital ticketing dominates – it’s over 90% now – and facial recognition is fast replacing QR codes at big venues and major football clubs.

Secondary ticketing situation: In 2023, Brazilian lawmakers introduced the Taylor Swift Act, which would criminalise ticket scalping for concert ticketing. Those who sell tickets at above face value can now be fined 50 times the value of the tickets and imprisoned for up to two years.
Taxes & charges: VAT: decided at state level, usually 17%–19% but can be as high as 25%; convenience fees can be as high as 20%
