Arena Market: Bosnia and Herzegovina
The mainstay of the entertainment scene in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the Juan Antonio Samaranch Olympic Hall in the capital city of Sarajevo.
Initially built for the 1984 Winter Olympics, the formerly Zetra Olympic Hall was reconstructed following the Bosnian War and reopened in 1999. It was renamed in 2010 in honour of Samaranch’s first games as International Olympic Committee president.
Convertible to 18,000 people, the arena primarily services sports, along with shows, summits, and elections, and is also home to an Olympic museum. It has hosted David Guetta, Iggy Pop, and Elton John over the decades.
The indoor space sits next to the Koševo City Stadium, which hosted the 1984 Games’ opening ceremony. Home to football club FK Sarajevo, the 70,000-capacity, outdoor venue is also used to host concerts.
