Hong Kong’s venue offering received a significant boost in 2025, with the opening of the much-anticipated Kai Tak Sports Park. The complex houses a 50,000-capacity stadium, inaugurated by Coldplay with four shows and over 200,000 tickets sold in early 2025.
The venue has proven to be a welcome addition, as promoters in the region express a need for further spaces and increased venue availability to ensure the scene continues to grow and remains an attractive and accessible proposition for international artists.
“In general, shows are going through a challenging phase in Hong Kong at the moment,” says Justin Sweeting, head of music at Magnetic Asia and music director of Clockenflap Music and Arts Festival. “Outside of some mega-event-sized shows, sales are on somewhat of a downward trend, which means we’re not able to take as many chances on all that we’d like.
