Arena Market: Spain
The live music business in Spain is experiencing a phenomenal growth curve at the moment. The APM (Association of Music Promoters) reported that it generated €578m in 2023. That is the highest figure ever recorded for the market.
That ebullience is carrying over into serious investment in the arena sector. Due to open in September, the 18,600-cap Roig Arena in Valencia, Spain’s third-largest city, will be a major addition to the country’s live infrastructure.
Its €280m development cost is being shouldered by Juan Roig, the billionaire owner of the Mercadona supermarket chain. It is there to bring major names to the city but is also part of a wider philanthropic redevelopment of the surrounding area, including a new school and public park.
