Live Nation’s acquisition of Lisbon’s MEO Arena at the end of 2024 has bolstered its reputation as one of the key players in Portugal’s arena market for global touring artists.
With nearly a million visiting for shows last year, the venue’s CEO, Jorge Vinha da Silva, says: “We have hosted sold-out shows every month, and the number of tours going through Portugal is increasing each year.
“We have also seen more international promoters stepping into the Portuguese live entertainment market, with internationally renowned shows like Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour (promoted by Spain-based promoter Last Tour). The live entertainment market in Portugal is in very good shape!”
MEO Arena has a scalable 20,000 capacity alongside a smaller 4,000-capacity Tejo Hall, and infrastructure investment has been prioritised, as the venue turns 27 this year.
