Arena Market: Brazil
Brazil is, by some distance, the most populous nation in South America, but it also has a great deal of fiscal uncertainty to deal with, which makes touring there, especially for international acts, fraught with risk.
In March 2025, inflation in the country hit a two-year high. This followed the Brazilian real falling 23.4% against the US dollar in 2024. The Brazilian government then announced a heavy cut in public spending to, ideally, drive significant savings over the next two years.
The indoor live music in Brazil, however, is bucking at least some of these negative trends. “Rio’s live events market is thriving, with numerous music events taking place,” says Gabriel Hackme, head of marketing and commercial strategy, at the 6,000-cap Canecão Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The venue dates back to 1967 but has been closed since 2010, although its reopening is scheduled for the end of 2026, with plans for 132 events per year.
