Greece’s live music sector is showing strong growth, with more and more artists touring the region, although it has traditionally lacked enough arenas.
That’s all changing following a refurbishment of the OAKA Basketball Arena in Athens (1,500–23,000 capacity) which alongside basketball, hosts festivals and music performances from domestic and international artists alike, with Jason Derulo and Cigarettes After Sex having recently graced its stage.
Based in a city where tourism bolsters the domestic ticket-buying market, the arena has recently undertaken multiple developments to tailor its service to its growing audience.
“Over the past 12 months, we carried out a complete renovation of the OAKA Basketball Arena – transforming it into one of the most modern venues in Europe,” says Christina Tsakiridou, the venue’s events coordinator.
